Geissele
Enhanced two-stage trigger for precision AR shooting
The Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) builds upon the combat-proven SSA chassis with a lighter, more refined trigger pull optimized for precision shooting applications. With a first stage of 2.0-2.5 pounds and a second stage of just 0.9-1.3 pounds (total 2.9-3.8 pounds), the SSA-E delivers what Bill Geissele describes as a "candy cane-like" or "icicle" break - sharper and more distinct than the SSA's "carrot" break. This makes the SSA-E ideal for Squad Designated Marksman rifles and precision builds where trigger control is paramount.
Like its SSA sibling, the SSA-E is precision-machined from S7 tool steel, providing excellent impact resistance, strength, and toughness. The reduced first and second stage pull weights result in a trigger with a smooth, light first stage take-up and an exceptionally crisp break point. All springs are captive and the design uses no adjustment screws that could work loose under recoil, ensuring consistent performance over tens of thousands of rounds. The trigger fits any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower using standard .154" trigger and hammer pins.
Users switching from the LaRue MBT-2S or standard SSA to the SSA-E consistently report the cleanest break they've experienced in any AR trigger. The SSA-E has become the preferred choice for DMR and precision rifle builds where shooters need the lightest possible pull without sacrificing the reliability of a two-stage design. Recent 2025 reviews praise the trigger for its massive improvement over even the already-excellent SSA, with many noting it's particularly well-suited for long-range precision work. The trigger can be installed without removing the safety selector, making upgrades straightforward for experienced AR owners.
