About Rifle Configurator

Rifle Configurator is a free firearm builder covering AR-15, AR-10, handguns, tactical shotguns, pistol-caliber carbines, and precision rifles. Whether you're assembling your first AR-15 build kit, tuning a duty pistol, or specing a 3-gun shotgun, our platform provides real-time compatibility verification across 300+ host platforms.

Browse our catalog of AR-15 parts, handgun upgrades (sights, triggers, lights, holsters), shotgun accessories, and precision rifle components. Our compatibility engine ensures every component you select fits the host firearm, eliminating guesswork from your build.

Building an AR-15, upgrading a Glock, or repacking a Mossberg 590? Start with our mission-first configurator that matches components to your intended use case, from home defense to precision shooting to concealed carry.

Optics & Sighting Systems

Compare rifle optics including red dot sights, LPVOs, holographic sights, precision scopes, and pistol red dots. Our guides cover mounting, zeroing, and selecting the right optic for AR-15, AR-10, handgun, and precision rifle builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rifle Configurator free?
Yes. Rifle Configurator is completely free to use with no account required. You can plan an AR-15, AK, handgun, shotgun, PCC, or bolt-action build, check part compatibility, and price out every component without paying anything.
What firearms can I build with Rifle Configurator?
You can build across 300+ factory platforms and 1,500+ components spanning AR-15, AR-10, AK, handguns (Glock, SIG, CZ, 2011), tactical shotguns, pistol-caliber carbines, bolt-action precision rifles, and lever actions. Each platform surfaces its own compatible optics, triggers, muzzle devices, furniture, and accessories.
How does the compatibility checker work?
The compatibility engine matches every component against the host firearm in real time using a tagging system that tracks mounting footprints, thread pitch, caliber, and platform family. If a part will not fit the firearm you selected, it is filtered out before you can add it, so a build only ever contains components that physically work together.
Can I buy the parts I add to a build?
Yes. Every component links to current purchase pages at major retailers, so once a build is specced you can buy each part directly. You can also start from a complete factory firearm and plan upgrades from there.
Is it legal to build your own AR-15?
Under federal law, a non-prohibited person can build an AR-15 for personal use without a license, provided it is not built with the intent to sell. Some states (including California, New Jersey, and New York) add serialization, registration, or feature requirements, so check your state law first. Rifle Configurator helps you plan the build; it does not sell firearms or serialized receivers.
Is it cheaper to build an AR-15 or buy one?
For a basic AR-15, a complete factory rifle is often cheaper than sourcing every part separately, because manufacturers buy components at volume. Building wins when you want a specific barrel, trigger, or handguard, or plan to upgrade over time. Pricing a full parts list in the builder before you commit is the fastest way to see which route is cheaper for your exact spec.
