The Crye Precision AirFlex Combat Knee Pad is the insert the G3 and G4 pants were designed around. It drops into the pant's internal knee channel and rides exactly where your kneecap lands thanks to the pant's vertical adjustment. A flexible impact cap and air channels keep the pad low-profile and breathable during long kneeling stints.
The AirFlex is not a rate-sensitive D3O pad. Both approaches protect well, but they work differently: the AirFlex prioritizes low-profile flexibility and airflow over the impact-hardening stiffening of a D3O pad.
