Fort Knox
The best mechanical quick-access handgun safe. A Simplex pushbutton lock needs no batteries and never dies, while a 10-gauge body and 3/16-inch door make it the most pry-resistant box in its class.
The PB1 is the answer for anyone who does not want a battery or a circuit board between them and their handgun at 3 AM. Its Simplex mechanical pushbutton lock, made by dormakaba, has 1,081 combinations, opens in under two seconds with muscle memory, and will outlive the owner. The 10-gauge body and 3/16-inch wraparound plate door give it the best pry resistance in the quick-access class, and a gas strut pops the lid fully open when unlocked. It holds one or two handguns depending on size and has no fire rating. The only real weakness is that a mechanical lock has no lockout after failed attempts, so bolt it down and keep it out of sight.
