Garmont
Multi-terrain Garmont T8 variant tuned for mixed environments. Suede leather and nylon mesh upper, Vibram Bifida outsole, and AR 670-1 compliance.
The T8 Bifida is the heavier-duty sibling of the T8 NFS, designed for users who train on mixed terrain rather than flat garrison ground. The upper uses suede leather and nylon mesh construction that holds up to scree, brush, and prolonged wet exposure. Garmont rates the boot as amphibious-capable, which in practice means it drains and dries fast even though it is not GORE-TEX waterproof.
The outsole is a deeper-lug Vibram pattern compared to the NFS, with more aggressive grip on muddy and rocky surfaces. Same Ortholite Ultra footbed, same Zero Optical ball-bearing lacing system, same AR 670-1 / AFI compliance. The trade-off is a slightly stiffer feel underfoot.
At roughly $185 at current tactical-footwear retailers, the Bifida is the boot to buy if you want a single all-environment training boot and you are not married to the lightest possible option. Pair it with quality merino or synthetic socks; the suede upper handles the rest.
