ATE GEN3 Ballistic Helmet

The Hard Head Veterans ATE (Above The Ear) GEN3 is the value answer in the ballistic helmet market. At $799 it lands roughly half the price of a Team Wendy EXFIL Ballistic and less than half a FAST SF Next Gen, while still delivering NIJ Level IIIA certification against the standard 9mm, .357 SIG, and .44 Magnum threats.

HHV is a veteran-owned company based in Sweetwater, Texas, and the ATE shell is manufactured domestically using DuPont ballistic fibers. The geometry is high-cut (Above The Ear), which clears over-ear headsets and ARC-rail gel cups. ARC-pattern accessory rails ship factory, and the integrated NVG shroud accepts dovetail-interface Wilcox and Norotos mounts.

Where the ATE compromises versus Team Wendy and Ops-Core: shell weight is slightly higher (roughly 3.0 lb complete versus 2.6 lb for the EXFIL Ballistic), the retention is a conventional dial system rather than CAM FIT BOA or Occ-Dial, and the impact liner is conventional EPS foam rather than Team Wendy's Zorbium. For a buyer who needs IIIA but cannot justify the premium-brand cost, those are acceptable trades. HHV stock is usually available without the 4-12 week build-to-order wait the premium brands publish.
