Lowa
Mid-height GORE-TEX duty boot built on Lowa's Monowrap PU frame. Polished by police, SOF, and CQB units for its near-zero break-in and balanced support.
The Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid TF is the boot many federal law enforcement, FBI HRT, and SOF selection candidates wear because it works straight out of the box. Lowa's Monowrap construction wraps a polyurethane midsole frame up around the heel and forefoot, creating a chassis that controls roll and pronation without the brick-like feel of a traditional all-leather combat boot.
The upper is a hybrid of split leather and Cordura with a GORE-TEX bootie behind it. The leather panels sit at the toe box, heel cup, and high-wear flex points; the Cordura panels handle breathability and drying. A 3/4-length nylon stabilizer runs under the arch to control torsion. Most users report no break-in pain after the first 5-10 miles, which is the real selling point for a duty boot you might have to put on cold for a callout.
This is a mid-cut boot, not a full 8-inch combat boot. That makes it ideal for CQB, training classes, and urban patrol where ankle freedom matters, but less ideal as a pure ruck boot for heavy multi-day loads. The Mid TF is approximately 6 inches tall, so it does NOT meet AR 670-1 or AFI 36-2903 height requirements for active-duty Army/Air Force uniform wear, even in coyote, desert, or ranger green. Service members who need a compliant Zephyr should buy the 8-inch Lowa Zephyr GTX Hi instead.
