RMA Defense
RMA's flagship UHMWPE Level III rifle plate. 3.1 lb (M) of pure polyethylene, positively buoyant, tested to the new NIJ 0101.07 RF1 standard against 7.62 NATO, 5.56, and 7.62x39 MSC.
The RMA 1062-1063 Gen 2 is the polyethylene rifle plate that anchors RMA's hard-armor lineup. At 3.1 lb in size medium, it weighs less than half what a comparable ceramic or steel Level III plate weighs, and the all-polyethylene construction means it floats — useful for boat, water, or anywhere the plate might end up submerged.
The plate is tested to the new NIJ 0101.07 RF1 protocol, which is the equivalent of the old NIJ 0101.06 Level III but tested under the updated 2023 standard. RF1 stops 7.62x51 NATO M80 ball, 7.62x39 mild steel core (AK), 5.56 M193, and the full handgun threat spectrum at standard rifle distances. It is not rated for armor-piercing (.30-06 AP, M855A1), which is what separates a Level III plate from a Level IV.
Construction is SAPI/ESAPI multi-curve with a 600D water-resistant cover. The "1062-1063" designation refers to the size pair — RMA uses model numbers tied to size class rather than a single SKU per plate type. Real-world use case: lightweight setup for civilians who want rifle-rated protection without the 6-8 lb ceramic weight, or as a backer in an in-conjunction-with (ICW) soft armor system.
