RMA Defense
The Level IV plate that broke the $200 ceiling. Multi-hit alumina ceramic stops .30-06 M2AP and the full Level IV threat spectrum at 6.6 lb (Shooter's Cut M) for under $200 — the value standard nothing else has matched.
The RMA 1155 Gen 2 is the plate that made standalone Level IV affordable. At $199.99 for a single plate, it sits roughly $150 below the Hesco 4400MC and $400 below the Velocity Systems PSA4 while delivering the same Level IV / RF3 threat coverage: .30-06 M2AP, M855A1 steel-core penetrator, M855 green tip, 7.62x39 mild steel core, 7.62x51 M80, and API-BZ.
The construction is alumina-oxide ceramic strike face bonded to a polyethylene composite backer, multi-curve form, with a 600D water-resistant cover. RMA rates the plate as multi-hit capable, meaning it can take more than one rifle round in the same plate (within reason — ceramic is still impact-sensitive and any plate that has eaten a real strike should be replaced).
Weight runs 6.6 lb in medium Shooter's Cut, 7.4 lb in medium SAPI cut, 9.8 lb in XL SAPI. Thickness is 0.9 in. The Gen 2 update brought the price down from the original 1155's ~$300 launch point while keeping the threat coverage and improving multi-hit performance. Tested to the new NIJ 0101.07 standard (RF3 designation, equivalent to old 0101.06 Level IV), it sits in the "tested to standard" tier rather than NIJ-certified-listed.
