Rocky
Berry Compliant USMC-heritage 8-inch boot with drainage vents, flash-resistant leather, and 1000D Cordura panels for jungle and wet-environment work.
The Rocky S2V is the boot Marine Corps Marine Raider candidates wore through SOI, and the design has not meaningfully changed since. The construction philosophy is "drain everything, burn nothing." Drainage vents at the lower foot let water out instead of trapping it. The leather is flash- and water-resistant. The 1000D Cordura side and tongue panels carry a PTFE flame-retardant coating. The lining is Berry Compliant and made in the USA.
This is not a boot for hot, dry, garrison work. It is heavier than the Garmont T8 by 8 ounces per boot, the unlined construction is not as breathable as the Bifida, and the rugged Vibram outsole is overkill for asphalt. Where it shines is sustained wet operations: jungle, swamp, amphibious training, prolonged riverine and littoral work where your feet will be submerged and you need a boot that drains, dries, and resists chemical and flash exposure.
The S2V is also AR 670-1 compliant in coyote and Berry Compliant for federal procurement. If your training calendar has you in water more than half the year, this is the buy. If not, save the $100 and get the Garmont T8 NFS or Bifida instead.
