SIONICS NP3 BCG

The SIONICS NP3 BCG features one of the most advanced self-lubricating coatings available in the firearms industry. NP3 is an electroless nickel coating with PTFE (Teflon) particles co-deposited into the nickel matrix at the molecular level. This bonding process creates a surface that keeps exposing fresh PTFE particles as wear occurs, so the self-lubricating behavior holds up for as long as the coating retains its integrity. The nickel provides corrosion and abrasion resistance while the embedded Teflon supplies dry lubricity.

The NP3 process publishes ASTM D-2714 coefficients of roughly 0.07 to 0.10 wet and 0.1 to 0.2 dry, below the common carrier finishes in either condition. This translates to smoother cycling, reduced wear on contact surfaces, and the ability to function reliably with minimal external lubrication. The coating's corrosion resistance is twice that of nickel boron, making it exceptionally well-suited for harsh environments and suppressed firearms where increased heat and fouling would challenge lesser finishes.

The chrome-like finish wipes clean easily, often requiring no solvents or harsh chemicals for routine maintenance. Carbon buildup that would cake onto phosphate finishes simply flakes away from the NP3 surface. This makes the SIONICS NP3 BCG particularly valuable for suppressed rifles where gas blowback accelerates carbon accumulation. SIONICS machines these BCGs to mil-spec dimensions with properly staked gas keys, combining proven geometry with advanced surface treatment for reliable performance in demanding applications.
