Sawfly Eyewear

The Revision Sawfly is the original US Army-issued APEL (Authorized Protective Eyewear List) ballistic spectacle and the platform that built Revision's reputation in the military eyewear market. MIL-PRF-32432A clause 3.8.4.1 Class 1 governs both the optical and mechanical performance, and the lens also carries ANSI Z87.1-2015 Z87+ for civilian high-velocity impact.

The Sawfly's signature feature is OcuMax Plus, the predecessor of the StingerHawk's coating and still one of the most durable anti-fog treatments in production eyewear. Frame profile is more conservative than the StingerHawk, which is either a feature (broader fit, more orbital coverage) or a constraint (heavier, less fashion-forward). Two sizes (regular and large) and adjustable temples handle most face shapes without prescription drama.

At $100 for a 2-lens kit and up to $130 for the deluxe 3-lens, the Sawfly is the right pick for two buyers: military and LE personnel who already wore the issue version and want the same platform on the civilian side, and shooters who specifically value the conservative tactical-spectacle look that the StingerHawk and Aegis Echo II have moved away from. Replacement lenses and parts are widely available because of the platform's long issue history.
