Modlite PL350 G3 PLHv3 Light Package

The PL350 G3 is the third generation of Modlite's pistol light body, and every change is to the interface rather than the output. A switch stop screw ships in the box and threads into either side of the switch housing, locking out travel on the left or the right so the switch cannot bounce back into the on position when the light is shut off at speed. The second change is a metal 1913 Picatinny rail lug alongside the polymer universal and polymer 1913 lugs, which Modlite recommends for metal-frame hosts such as 1911 and 2011 pistols. The third is a 1600mAh 18350 cell, which is what feeds the higher-draw PLHv3 and OKW v2 heads.

Paired with the PLHv3 head, this package produces 1,500 lumens and 60,000 candela at 6,500K, a balanced hotspot and spill profile that works indoors and outdoors. Modlite quotes about 30 minutes of runtime on the 1600mAh cell. The OKW v2 version of the same package trades total output for reach at 1,300 lumens and 95,000 candela with a tighter hotspot, which is the better choice behind a magnified optic or through window tint and fog. Both list at the same price.

The body measures 4 inches long and 1.25 inches in diameter and weighs 5.5 ounces with the battery installed, heavier than the 4 oz SureFire X300U-A. Out-the-front battery swaps still work without pulling the light off the gun. CR123 cells are not supported and can overheat; the light runs 18350 rechargeables only.
