The RMA 1016 is the middle ground between the light 0922 special-threat plate and the heavy 1118 Level IV plate. It keeps a full NIJ 0101.06 Level III test claim while weighing 2.4 pounds plus or minus 0.125 pound per plate.
RMA lists multi-hit testing against .308 M80, 7.62x39 mild steel core, and 5.56 M193. The 9x11 Dyneema UHMWPE construction is 1 inch thick, with the same female ultra-curve front and single-curve rear split used across RMA's current women's line.
At 2.4 pounds per plate, a full 1016 pair comes in at 4.8 pounds before the carrier, less than the weight of one 1118 Level IV plate. Both plates are 1 inch thick, so all of that saving is in mass rather than bulk.
