The carbon-fiber tube weighs just 3.07 oz, and Lancer positions the family as approximately 40% lighter than the original factory handguard.

Two performance benefits matter on the MPX. First, weight savings forward of the receiver shifts the balance point closer to the shooter's center of mass, which makes the gun snappier in transitions and easier to drive one-handed during reloads. Second, carbon fiber has a much lower rate of thermal conductivity than aluminum, so during sustained suppressed strings the handguard surface temperature climbs more slowly and stays cooler in the support hand. The 1.6-inch inside diameter clears most 9mm suppressors for a true over-the-can configuration.
