Springfield Armory M1A 4th Generation Aluminum Scope Mount

Springfield's own 4th-generation aluminum mount is the factory answer to the M1A scope problem. It provides a full-length Picatinny rail above the receiver using a three-point contact system, and it costs roughly half what the steel SADLAK does while shedding most of the weight. For a recreational shooter who wants to run an LPVO or a low-power variable on a Loaded or Standard M1A, it is the sensible starting point.

The mount is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in black. The three-point interface locks to the receiver and the stripper-clip guide, and the full Picatinny rail gives generous fore-aft latitude for setting eye relief. Springfield revised this mount across four generations specifically to tighten the receiver interface and improve zero retention, and the current 4th-gen design is the version to buy.

It is not as recoil-proof over thousands of rounds as a steel mount, and very heavy magnified optics are better served by the SADLAK. But for the majority of M1A owners running a modest optic, the factory aluminum mount delivers the rail you need without the steel mount's weight or cost.
