Team Wendy EXFIL Counterweight Kit, 0.25 lb, Black, Small, 70-CWK-BK-1
The Team Wendy EXFIL/EPIC Counterweight Kit is the standard solution to the most common helmet complaint: front-loaded NVG weight pulling the helmet forward and putting tension on the neck. The kit contains three modular weights that attach to the helmet's rear panel with hook-and-loop plus webbing or shock-cord retention depending on helmet, sold in either 0.25 lb increments (Small kit, 0.75 lb total) or 0.5 lb increments (Large kit, 1.5 lb total).
The counterweight rule for any NVG setup: aim for 0.5-0.75 lb less weight in the rear than the front. The goal is not perfect balance but moving the effective center of mass back over the helmet's pivot axis at the top of the head. Perfectly balanced loads still rotate forward when you look down at gear or a weapon, because the pivot is not at the geometric center of the helmet.
For a typical setup with a PVS-14 (~12 oz) plus a Wilcox G24 (5.7 oz), about 0.75 lb of counterweight (small kit, all three weights) is correct. For a binocular setup with a BNVD-1531 (~1.4 lb) or GPNVG-18 (~2.0 lb), use the 0.5 lb weights and add them incrementally until the helmet sits neutral when you nod. The kit fits EXFIL Ballistic, EXFIL SL Ballistic, LTP, Carbon, EPIC, and SAR Tactical helmets.
