Overview

The SilencerCo Osprey 45 2.0 is the market-defining .45 ACP suppressor and the reason "offset can" is even a category. Its eccentric design drops the baffle stack below the bore axis instead of centering it, so the can sits low and barely intrudes into the sight picture. On a .45 with standard-height sights you can often still get a usable picture over the top of the tube, where a round can of the same diameter would force a full set of suppressor-height sights. That sight-clearance advantage is the whole point of the Osprey line.

At 9.2 ounces and 8.06 inches it is light for a full-size .45 can, built from an aluminum tube over 17-4 stainless baffles. .45 ACP is naturally subsonic in standard 230-grain loads, so the Osprey turns a full-size 1911 or Glock 21 into a genuinely quiet host, rated around 130 decibels at the ear. Its large internal volume means the baffles rarely need cleaning, and it mounts on SilencerCo pistons available in the common .45 and 9mm thread pitches.

The one real tradeoff is that the Osprey 45 2.0 is not full-auto rated, so it is a semi-auto pistol and PCC can, not a subgun workhorse. For the vast majority of .45 shooters, who are running a handgun and not a belt-fed, that is a non-issue, and the sight-clearance benefit is worth more than a full-auto rating they will never use.

  • Light at 9.2 oz for a full-size .45 can
  • Aluminum tube with 17-4 stainless baffles
  • Rated for 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and .300 BLK subsonic
