Surefire SOCOM556-RC2

The SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 is the suppressor chosen by U.S. Special Operations Command for use on M4 and Mk18 carbines, representing the pinnacle of military-grade rifle suppression. Built from advanced high-temperature Inconel 718 alloys and stainless steel, the RC2 is CNC laser-welded to withstand the harshest combat conditions. At 6.4 inches long and 17 ounces, it remains one of the most compact full-size 5.56mm suppressors available.

The RC2 improved on the original SOCOM design with reduced back pressure and lower cyclic rates, addressing concerns about gas blowback and accelerated wear on suppressed firearms. Independent testing shows M855 ammunition from a 10.3-inch barrel registers approximately 137 dB, within the generally accepted hearing-safe threshold. The suppressor virtually eliminates first-round muzzle flash (up to 99.3% reduction) and minimizes dust signature for tactical applications.

As an NFA item, the RC2 requires ATF Form 4 approval and a $200 tax stamp. SureFire's Fast-Attach system allows rapid mounting and removal with WARCOMPs, flash hiders, and muzzle brakes. All RC2 suppressors are individually test-fired to verify sub-1 MOA group size and minimal point-of-impact shift, ensuring precision consistency.
