Mantis Laser Academy Portable Training Kit

The Portable kit is the entry point to Laser Academy and, for a lot of shooters, the correct one. The mechanism is identical to the Standard kit: a Pink Rhino laser cartridge sits in the chamber, the firing pin sets it off on every press, and the app reads the flash through the phone's camera and scores where it landed. The app license that comes with the kit is the same full-access code Mantis sells separately, which is most of what you are paying for here.

What changes at the lower price is the physical kit. The Portable version ships a complete set of 5 x 7 Smart Targets instead of the Standard kit's twelve 8.5 x 11 sheets, and a mini tripod with a smartphone holder instead of the full-height tripod and five target stands. That is a real trade: smaller targets at a shorter distance still score reliably, but you are propping the phone on a table or the floor rather than framing a wide array from across the room.

Buy the Portable kit if you train in a hallway or a single room, want the app's guided drill library, and would rather put the difference toward a second cartridge or ammunition. Step up to the Standard kit if you want to set up multiple targets at spread positions for transition work, because that is what the stands and the tall tripod exist to support. Both include the cartridge extraction stick and both require you to select the caliber matching the firearm you train with.
