Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. optic footprint: what red dots fit

Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.

The Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. does not have one optic footprint. T.O.R.O. stands for Taurus Optic Ready Option, and the slide carries a factory optic cut that takes an interchangeable mounting plate, with four plates and four screw sets in the box. Taurus lists the factory plates as covering the Trijicon RMR, Noblex-Docter, Vortex Venom, Burris FastFire, Sightmark Mini, Holosun HS407C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, C-More STS2, Bushnell RXS-250, and TRUGLO TRU-TEC Micro. The micro patterns come from outside that set: C&H Precision builds Taurus G3C plates for the Shield RMSc and Holosun K cut, for the Holosun EPS, and for the Holosun 509T. Bolt the plate into the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Two traps sit on this slide. The plain G3c has no optic pocket at all, and a T.O.R.O. gun ships with a steel slide cover plate installed over the pocket, so a flat cover behind the rear sight is the sign of an optics-ready slide rather than a solid one. The second is the reach of the factory set. Every optic Taurus names for the included plates is a full-size or Docter-class pattern, which leaves the micro RMSc, Holosun K, EPS, and 509T footprints to aftermarket plates.

What optic footprint does the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.?

Yes, for almost every optic. The Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. mounts red dots through a plate system, so you bolt the plate matching your optic's footprint into the slide and then bolt the optic to the plate. Plates are available for the Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C, Shield RMSc / Holosun K, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and Holosun 509T footprints.

Does the Holosun 507C X2 fit a Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507C X2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. using a matching plate such as the Taurus G3c / G3 TORO Optic Mounting Plate Kit and Taurus G3c / G3 TORO Optic Plate #2 (RMR / 507C). Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Trijicon RMR Type 2 fit a Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.?

Yes, on a plate. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. using a matching plate such as the Taurus G3c / G3 TORO Optic Mounting Plate Kit and Taurus G3c / G3 TORO Optic Plate #2 (RMR / 507C). Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun 507K X2 fit a Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507K X2 is a Shield RMSc / Holosun K footprint optic, so it mounts on the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision Taurus G3C RMSc / Holosun K Plate and C&H Precision Taurus G3C Holosun EPS Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun EPS Carry fit a Taurus G3c T.O.R.O.?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun EPS Carry mounts on the Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision Taurus G3C RMSc / Holosun K Plate and C&H Precision Taurus G3C Holosun EPS Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Do the Taurus G3 T.O.R.O. and G3c T.O.R.O. use the same plates?

Yes. Taurus states that four mounting plates, four screw sets, and an L-key ship with both the G3 T.O.R.O. and the G3c T.O.R.O., and the factory replacement kit is sold for the two models together. The frames differ in size, the optic pocket does not.

Does the factory plate kit cover a Holosun 507K or EPS Carry?

No. The optics Taurus names for the included plates are the Trijicon RMR, Noblex-Docter, Vortex Venom, Burris FastFire, Sightmark Mini, Holosun HS407C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, C-More STS2, Bushnell RXS-250, and TRUGLO TRU-TEC Micro. For the micro K and RMSc pattern or the Holosun EPS, C&H Precision makes Taurus G3C plates in those footprints.

Do Taurus G3c T.O.R.O. plates fit a TX22 T.O.R.O.?

No. The two share the T.O.R.O. name and nothing else about optic mounting. The TX22 T.O.R.O. slide is machined for the Shield RMSc footprint and takes the optic directly, so there is no plate pocket for a G3c plate to sit in.
