Walther PDP Compact optic footprint: what red dots fit

Walther PDP Compact

The Walther PDP Compact does not use one optic footprint. Walther lists the optics cut on these slides as a plate system, so the plate matching your dot bolts into the slide and the dot bolts to the plate. The PDP 2.0 plate range covers the Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C pattern, the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, the Aimpoint ACRO, the Holosun 509T, and a K-Series plate that takes the Holosun 507K, 407K, EPS and EPS Carry, the Shield RMS and RMSc, and the SIG Romeo Zero. Two dots skip the plate entirely, the Holosun SCS-PDP and the C&H Direct Mount, because both are cut for the PDP pocket itself.

There are two PDP optic cuts and their plates do not cross. Walther sells one plate line for PDP 1.0 slides and a separate one for PDP 2.0, and its K-Series PDP 2.0 plate is listed for the new-style cut only, with PDP 1.0 owners pointed at the other range. The plates look alike in a photo. Walther identifies the newer cut by serial prefix rather than by model name, so match the plate to the slide you actually own before you match it to the optic.

Walther PDP Compact optic fitment FAQ

What optic footprint does the Walther PDP Compact use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the Walther PDP Compact?

Yes, for almost every optic. The Walther PDP Compact mounts red dots through a plate system, so you bolt the plate matching your optic's footprint into the slide and then bolt the optic to the plate. The exceptions are optics built for that pocket, such as the C&H Direct Mount Optic for Walther PDP 2.0 and Holosun SCS-PDP-GR, which mount with no plate. Plates are available for the Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C, Shield RMSc / Holosun K, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint ACRO and Holosun 509T footprints.

Does the Holosun 507C X2 fit a Walther PDP Compact?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507C X2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Compact using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 RMR Optic Mounting Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Trijicon RMR Type 2 fit a Walther PDP Compact?

Yes, on a plate. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Compact using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 RMR Optic Mounting Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun 507K X2 fit a Walther PDP Compact?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507K X2 is a Shield RMSc / Holosun K footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Compact using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 K-Series Optic Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun EPS Carry fit a Walther PDP Compact?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun EPS Carry mounts on the Walther PDP Compact using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 K-Series Optic Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Do PDP Gen1 plates fit a PDP 2.0 slide?

No. Walther runs two separate plate lines, PDP Gen1 and PDP 2.0, and its K-Series PDP 2.0 plate page states the plate is built for the new-style optic cut and directs PDP 1.0 owners to a different range. The cuts differ, so the plate has to name your generation. Walther identifies 2.0 slides by serial prefixes such as FDL9203, FDM0001 and FDN3124, and labels the newer plates either Gen2 or 2.0.

Which plate takes a Holosun 507K or EPS Carry on a PDP Compact?

The K-Series PDP 2.0 plate. Walther lists it as fitting the Holosun 507K and 407K, the EPS and EPS Carry, the Shield RMS and RMSc, and the SIG Romeo Zero, machined from 7075 aluminum with M3 Torx hardware. It is the plate to buy when you want a micro-compact dot on a duty-size slide, and Walther pairs it with suppressor-height sights for a co-witness.
