Walther PDP Full Size optic footprint: what red dots fit

Walther PDP Full Size 5"

Ask what footprint the Walther PDP Full Size uses and the answer is a plate rather than a footprint. Walther lists the optics cut on these slides as a plate system: the plate for your dot's footprint bolts into the slide, then the dot bolts to the plate. The PDP 2.0 plate range covers the Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C pattern, the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, the Aimpoint ACRO, the Holosun 509T, and a K-Series plate for the Holosun 507K, 407K, EPS and EPS Carry, the Shield RMS and RMSc, and the SIG Romeo Zero. The Holosun SCS-PDP and the C&H Direct Mount need no plate at all.

Two Walther plate families get mixed up on this pistol. The Q-Series plates sold alongside the PDP plates are for the PPQ and Q5 Match, not the PDP, and the PDP range then splits again into Gen1 and 2.0. Three plates can carry the same footprint name, a DeltaPoint Pro plate for instance, and still bolt into three different slides. Read the pistol family and the generation on the plate first, and treat the footprint as the last thing you match.

Walther PDP Full Size optic fitment FAQ

What optic footprint does the Walther PDP Full Size use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the Walther PDP Full Size?

Yes, for almost every optic. The Walther PDP Full Size mounts red dots through a plate system, so you bolt the plate matching your optic's footprint into the slide and then bolt the optic to the plate. The exceptions are optics built for that pocket, such as the C&H Direct Mount Optic for Walther PDP 2.0 and Holosun SCS-PDP-GR, which mount with no plate. Plates are available for the Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C, Shield RMSc / Holosun K, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint ACRO and Holosun 509T footprints.

Does the Holosun 507C X2 fit a Walther PDP Full Size?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507C X2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Full Size using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 RMR Optic Mounting Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Trijicon RMR Type 2 fit a Walther PDP Full Size?

Yes, on a plate. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Full Size using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 RMR Optic Mounting Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun 507K X2 fit a Walther PDP Full Size?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507K X2 is a Shield RMSc / Holosun K footprint optic, so it mounts on the Walther PDP Full Size using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 K-Series Optic Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun EPS Carry fit a Walther PDP Full Size?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun EPS Carry mounts on the Walther PDP Full Size using a matching plate such as the Walther PDP Gen 2 K-Series Optic Plate and Calculated Kinetics Walther PDP DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Are Walther Q-Series optic plates the same as PDP plates?

No. Walther sells Q-Series optic plates for the PPQ and Q5 Match and separate PDP plates for the PDP, then splits the PDP range again into Gen1 and 2.0. A DeltaPoint Pro plate exists in all three lines and none of them interchange. Match the plate to the pistol family, then to the generation, then to the optic footprint.

Do the PDP Compact and PDP Full Size use the same optic plates?

Yes, within a generation. Walther specifies its PDP 2.0 plates for PDP Full Size, Compact and Pro slides with the 2.0 plate system, so a plate bought for a 4-inch Compact bolts into a 5-inch Full Size. Slide length is not the dividing line; the split that matters is PDP 1.0 against PDP 2.0. C&H Precision and Forward Controls Design build their PDP plates to the same rule.
