Clear the house with the sight you are about to buy.

A first-person shoot house that runs on the same ballistics as the range simulator. Pick a red dot, holographic sight or LPVO from the catalog, choose its reticle pattern and emitter color, set the lighting, and clear the rooms with the rifle in your hands: hold to aim, release to carry it. Threats need two hits, no-shoots cost you time, and every aimed hole lands where your zero and height-over-bore put it at room distance, which on an AR-15 is a couple of inches under the dot.

What the house teaches

Two things a square range hides. First, mechanical offset: the sight rides high over the bore, and inside a room the bullet has not climbed to the line of sight yet, so a dot on the edge of a no-shoot is a hit on the no-shoot. Second, the sight picture itself: a 65 MOA circle that swallows a target at 100 yards is a fast bracket at 7, a 2 MOA dot that was crisp outdoors blooms in a dark hallway, and a green or gold emitter reads differently against plywood than red does. Run the same house with two sights and the difference is in the clock.

Zero and offset

The shot solver is the range simulator's: load, barrel length, zero distance and sight height decide where the bullet crosses the line of sight, and the house only ever asks it about distances under 15 yards. Change the zero from 50 to 36 yards and watch the close-range hole move. The zeroing simulator covers getting that zero, and the range simulator takes the same sight and load out to distance.

Sights you can run

Each of these draws its published reticle at its published size, in the emitter colors the manufacturer sells it in.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my shot land below the dot at close range?

The sight sits about two and a half inches above the bore on an AR-15, and the bullet only climbs up to the line of sight at the zero distance. Inside a room the bullet is still well below the dot: about two and a quarter inches low at five yards with a 50 yard zero. The simulator solves the real trajectory for your load, barrel, zero and sight height, so the hole appears where the bullet goes, not where the dot sits.

Which sights can I run in the shoot house?

Any red dot or holographic sight in the catalog with a published reticle, the generic red dot and holographic examples, and every LPVO the range simulator carries at 1x or higher. Sights with more than one published pattern switch between the ones drawn for them, and a few of those are drawn in their full pattern only. Sights sold in red, green or gold can be run in each color.

What do the lighting modes change?

Daylight lights the house evenly through skylights. Indoor uses neutral overhead panels. Dark turns the house almost black so the weapon light does the work: a hot spot with a wider spill, sized from the light's published candela. Dot brightness matters most in the dark, where a setting that was invisible outdoors blooms into a blob.

What is the difference between aiming and shooting from the hip?

Hold the right mouse button, or the Aim button on a phone, and the rifle comes up so the sight sits on your eye line: the field of view narrows and the reticle appears, and the shot follows the dot with the sight-height offset. Let go and the rifle drops to a carried position. A shot from there leaves the muzzle wherever the rifle happens to point, a little low and right of center, with only gravity acting on it. Nothing random is added either way; from the hip you simply cannot see where the bore is.

How is a run scored?

The clock starts when you take control. Each threat needs two hits inside a scoring zone to be neutralized; a hit on a no-shoot adds ten seconds and a miss or a wall hit adds five. The run ends when the last threat is down, and the summary lists raw time, penalties and total.

Are the houses real training facilities?

No. They are original plywood floor plans built for the exercise: a hallway with rooms off it, a center hall with four rooms, and a tighter dark house. Room sizes and door widths are ordinary interior dimensions, not a copy of any range.

Can I replay the same house?

Yes. Which targets are threats and which are no-shoots is dealt from a seed, and the page address updates with it when a run starts. Share the link and the other person gets the same house with the same roles.
