Overview

The Ops-Core SOTR family is the purpose-built shooting respirator in this guide. Its central filter and low-profile silicone facepiece are designed around weapon interface, eye protection, over-ear hearing protection, and live-fire range use. Gentex states at least 99.97 percent filtration efficiency against listed oil and non-oil particulates, including lead and gunfire residue.

The standard SOTR and SOTR Lite are not the same kit. The standard non-microphone SOTR includes two filters plus head and helmet harnesses and can integrate with Ops-Core helmets. SOTR Lite includes one filter and a head harness and is not helmet-compatible. The product page starts at the Lite configuration price.

Gentex states that SOTR is not NIOSH approved, even though the company says it was tested to specified P100 filtration, breathing-resistance, and valve-leakage requirements. That distinction matters. Use a NIOSH-approved respirator when a workplace program, industrial hygienist, or contaminant assessment requires one. SOTR is also a particulate system, not universal gas, vapor, or CBRN protection.
