Low-profile Kali Key handle and gas diversion block that run a mil-spec direct impingement AR-15 as a manually operated straight-pull bolt action.
The Kali Key AR-15 LO-PRO is the low-profile version of Kali Key's AR-15 bolt-action conversion. Kali Key describes it as its sleek, minimalist design, built for a small footprint in transport and a more traditional tactical look, and says working the action feels like using a mil-spec charging handle to cycle the rifle as a bolt action. The kit is the LO-PRO charging handle, the same Kali Key gas key (gas diversion block), and two mounting screws.
Mechanically it matches the standard AR-15 Kali Key. The diversion block replaces the bolt carrier's factory gas key so gas no longer cycles the carrier, and the shooter pulls the charging handle to extract, eject, and chamber each round, making the rifle a manually operated straight-pull bolt action. Kali Key lists the same current-generation features: a 7075 aluminum rod with a hard coat anodized finish, a patent-pending blow-back gas trap, revised geometry meant to fit more uppers and iron sights, and a revised handle-to-rod attachment. It fits mil-spec direct impingement AR-15 rifles only, not piston systems, and the instructions specify HPT and MPI mil-spec carriers with gas key guide grooves.
The carrier commitment is the same too. No BCG is included, the factory staked gas key has to come off (a bundle with a black nitride BCG is offered for owners who want to skip that), and Kali Key says to attach the block with permanent threadlocker at a maximum of 40 in-lb and leave it installed. Going back to semi-automatic means swapping in a separate standard BCG and charging handle. Pick the LO-PRO over the standard Kali Key for its smaller handle; the price and the gas key are identical.
