Magpul
Magpul's casual impact-resistant eyewear with a TR90 wraparound frame, polarized or non-polarized lens options, and low-profile temples. Not ANSI Z87.1 rated, so use certified eye pro for primary range protection.
Magpul's Explorer looks like a natural fit for shooters because it uses Magpul's TR90 frame material, low-profile temples, and impact-conscious lens construction. The important catch is the certification: Magpul states the Explorer is not Z87.1 rated because of its wrap and shape. Treat it as casual outdoor eyewear, not primary certified range protection.
Lenses include both polarized and non-polarized options, with internal anti-reflective coating to kill glare from the back side of the lens (a common complaint with cheaper polarized glass) and an oleophobic treatment that sheds skin oils, sunscreen, and sweat. The polarized lens is a strong fit for outdoor rifle and shotgun work; the non-polarized lens is the right call if you shoot with a holographic or red dot, since polarization can interact poorly with reticle illumination.
If you need certified ballistic protection, pick an ANSI Z87.1+ or MIL-PRF-rated option like the ESS Crossbow, Revision StingerHawk, or Wiley X Saber Advanced. The Explorer can still make sense as everyday sunglasses for range travel, outdoor work, or general use, but it should not be the only eye protection in your shooting bag.
