Forward Controls Design
Detail-obsessed M-LOK handguard from the king of small parts
Forward Controls Design built its reputation on the details everyone else ignores: enhanced mag releases, ambi bolt catches, forward assist caps. The RHF is what happens when that obsessive attention to detail scales up to a full handguard.
The rail body is 6000-series extruded aluminum with Type III hard anodizing, machined with cooling vents for heat dissipation and weight reduction. The barrel nut is 7075 aluminum, and the mounting hardware is 17-4PH stainless steel, the same grade of precipitation-hardened stainless used in aerospace fasteners. Anti-rotation tabs index the rail to the upper receiver, and the barrel nut accepts standard mil-spec torque (40-50 ft/lbs) with no shims required. At 7.9 ounces for the 9.5-inch model including all hardware, the RHF competes with dedicated lightweight rails while maintaining full structural rigidity.
A full-length 1913 Picatinny top rail runs the entire length for continuous optic and accessory mounting, with M-LOK at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. The 1.315-inch inner diameter clears most low-profile gas blocks. Available in six lengths from 6.7 to 15 inches, the RHF covers everything from PDW builds to SPR configurations. FCD includes the barrel nut wrench. No QD sockets are included, which is on-brand: FCD assumes you have opinions about your QD placement and will handle it yourself.
