Byrna SD Kinetic Kit

The Byrna SD Kinetic Kit is the standout non-lethal projectile launcher for self and home defense. It is a .68 caliber launcher powered by 8g CO2 cartridges, firing kinetic and pepper projectiles at up to 280 feet per second with effective range out to 60 feet. That standoff distance is the entire point: where a pepper spray forces you to let a threat close to within arm's reach, the SD lets you address it from across a yard or down a hallway.

The legal status is a major draw. The SD is not classified as a firearm, so there is no permit requirement, no background check, and no FFL transfer. The kit is complete out of the box: two 5-round magazines, two 8g CO2 cartridges, three 5-count tubes of kinetic (solid impact) projectiles, a launcher card, and a carrying case (no chemical rounds). Kinetic rounds deliver a blunt-force deterrent; pepper rounds burst into an inflammatory cloud on impact. One legal caveat to know before buying: chemical Pepper and Max projectiles face state shipping limits. California allows the launcher with kinetic rounds only and bars chemical projectiles; New York, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Washington DC are restricted; and Byrna ships nothing to Hawaii or New York City.
