A 10/22 bolt closes by slamming forward into the breech face, and on a blowback rimfire there is nothing locking it there. At the cycle speed a forced reset trigger produces, the bolt can rebound a fraction of an inch before the hammer falls. The result is a light strike on the rim, or worse, a round fired before the bolt is fully home.
BoreBuddy's Anti-Bounce Bolt adds an internal mass that works like a dead-blow hammer: as the bolt closes, the mass carries forward and cancels the rebound so the bolt stays in battery. BoreBuddy states it removes bolt bounce for reliable FRT function and also improves reliability in plain semi-auto. It works with forced reset triggers and the Norrell full-auto packs.
Installation is the same as any 10/22 bolt. BoreBuddy's guide is specific about springs: run the original Ruger recoil spring and the original hammer spring, not the reduced-power springs that ship with the Mars FRT, which it calls unnecessary and possibly detrimental with this bolt. Clean it like a standard bolt, but do not disassemble the anti-bounce section; blow the fouling out with compressed air and re-oil.
Add the BoreBuddy 10/22 Anti-Bounce Bolt to your build and see how it enhances your platform.
