Capacity is the reason to buy this. A stock P226 runs 15 rounds and a Mec-Gar 18-round tube gets to 18. The CRS Comp Basepad on that same Mec-Gar tube gets to a reloadable 23 with a Grams Engineering no-lock-back spring and follower kit, or a reloadable 22 with an 11-coil spring and the stock SIG follower. The 22-round setup is the one to pick if slide lock-back matters, because the Grams no-lock-back follower does exactly what its name says.
The pad carries a dot matrix on the face for numbering magazines and ledges at the rear for stripping a stuck magazine during a malfunction, which is the detail that separates a competition pad from a capacity extension.
Cascade Range Systems tested and verified function only with the stock SIG magazine funnel and its own Comp Magwell. Other aftermarket magwells may not clear it. Capacity figures also move with the spring and follower combination, so gauge and count before committing to a division.
