Ruger
Factory 20-round steel magazine for Ruger Mini-14 in 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem
The Mini-14 uses a proprietary magazine design unrelated to STANAG, and factory Ruger magazines remain the most reliable option after decades of aftermarket experiments. The 20-round steel-bodied magazine ships in the box with most current Ranch and Tactical models and is the canonical Mini-14 mag for range, defensive, and field use.
The magazine rocks into the magwell forward-first in the AK pattern Bill Ruger inherited from the M14 design, a different manual of arms than the straight-insert AR-15. Once seated, the steel feed lips and stainless spring deliver the reliability that has kept the Mini-14 in production since 1973. The blued finish matches blued-receiver Ranch and Tactical guns.
For Mini-14 owners, factory 20-round mags are the right baseline. They run cleaner than most aftermarket alternatives, fit the magwell without the binding issues that plague third-party polymer mags, and pair correctly with the rifle's bolt-hold-open follower. Stock at least four for any Mini-14 you intend to actually use.
