Overview

The B&T APC9 Pro is what every other 9mm PCC gets compared to once price falls out of the conversation. The Swiss-built APC9 has been the duty-issue 9mm carbine for the US Army's Sub Compact Weapon program (Type Classified as the M7) and for European and Asian special operations units, and the Pro variant is the semi-auto pistol marketed to US civilians. The hydraulic buffer system inside the receiver dampens the blowback impulse so effectively that the APC9 shoots flatter than gas-piston designs costing half its price, and the build tolerances and finish quality match the company's reputation.

Magazine flexibility separates the APC9 Pro from the rest of the premium PCC field. The base configuration ships with a B&T 30-round magazine and the proprietary B&T magwell, but B&T sells dedicated lowers that accept Glock magazines or SIG P320 magazines, with all three lowers compatible with the same upper receiver. This means a shooter can run a Glock-mag lower for cheap practice ammunition logistics, then swap to a B&T or P320 lower for duty configurations. The Pro variant adds dual auto-folding non-reciprocating charging handles, an improved ambi bolt catch, and an M4-compatible pistol grip over the original APC9.

The APC9 is not a value buy. Street prices run $2,400 to $2,800 depending on configuration, and accessories like the optional tri-rail handguard or the factory folding brace push the total higher. For shooters who want the closest available approximation of an MP5 in a modern semi-auto, the APC9 Pro is the answer. For everyone else, the price is hard to justify against an MPX K or Banshee Mk17.
