Rare Breed FRT-SG3: Factory-Installed in B&T SPC9 and GHM9

B&T USA will build SPC9 and GHM9 models with the Rare Breed FRT-SG3 installed at the factory, assembled and tested on B&T USA's own production line. That is the core of the partnership the two companies announced July 20, 2026, and it is a first: no other production PCC ships from its manufacturer with a forced reset trigger already in the gun. Every FRT install to date has been an aftermarket drop-in done on the buyer's bench.

Lawrence DeMonico, President and Founder of Rare Breed Triggers, framed the value as system engineering: "By combining our expertise, we can provide a factory-configured solution that has been engineered and validated as a complete system." Danny Benavente, VP of Operations at B&T USA, called it "an outstanding opportunity for our brands and for our customers." Neither company published pricing, model designations, or ship dates for the integrated guns.

The FRT-SG3 is Rare Breed's drop-in forced reset trigger for the B&T SPC9, GHM9, and GHM45, sold direct at $525. A custom housing sits in the B&T lower with no gunsmithing, fitting, or machining, and the box includes a 3-position ambidextrous B&T-style safety selector plus B&T-style hammer and trigger axle pins. The selector gives Safe, Semi, and FRT: semi mode is a two-stage pull at 4 to 4.5 lbs, FRT mode a single stage at 5 to 5.5 lbs.

In FRT mode, the bolt carrier's rearward travel cams the trigger back into reset and locks it until the action returns to battery. Each round still takes its own press; the mechanism just resets the trigger faster than a finger can. The housing is 7075 anodized aluminum over heat-treated S7 steel, the same materials recipe as the FRT-MR3 for HK MR-series rifles, and the assembled unit weighs 5 oz. Fitment has hard edges. The B&T APC family is explicitly excluded, so APC9 owners are not part of this launch. The trigger also drops into the Lingle Industries aftermarket lower, though that install needs an AR-15 style 3-position selector and pins that are not in the box, and buyers running a B&T aluminum lower must note it on the order. Rare Breed caps sales at one trigger per transaction and one per customer per 24 hours.

The two platforms getting factory FRT treatment are B&T's hydraulic-buffered 9mm blowback guns, and the buffer is why they are good hosts. A forced reset trigger lives or dies on bolt timing, and B&T's hydraulic buffer smooths carrier velocity instead of letting it slam at raw blowback speed. The SPC9 at $2,599 runs AR-style controls with a rear charging handle and takes Glock magazines. The GHM9 Gen 2 at $1,549 is the lighter, cheaper entry into Swiss 9mm with B&T or Glock lower options.

The B&T 9mm family had exactly one forced-reset-family option before this partnership: The Triggered Company's assisted reset trigger for the SPC9, GHM9, and GHM45, sold through Cloak Industries at $515. It is a proven drop-in, but it carries fitment homework the factory path deletes: it will not run in GHM Gen 1 high-shelf uppers, some Gen 2 guns shipped with Gen 1 uppers, and B&T special edition aluminum lowers are excluded. A factory-assembled, factory-tested FRT gun removes the shelf-height check, the carrier-timing question, and the install from the buyer's side entirely.

Forced reset triggers are federally legal and require no tax stamp. The 2025 DOJ settlement with Rare Breed established that an FRT fires one round per function of the trigger, which puts it outside the machine gun definition, and the SPC9 and GHM9 are grip-forward hosts squarely covered by that settlement. Fifteen jurisdictions restrict FRTs or rapid-fire activators: CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, OR, RI, and DC.

Rare Breed's shipping policy is broader than the statute list: the company will not ship the FRT-SG3 to CA, CT, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, OR, RI, WA, or DC. Washington appears on that shipping list even though its machine-gun statute reaches binary triggers, not one-round-per-function FRTs. Check your own state before ordering the trigger or a factory-integrated gun, and check again if you move.

Factory integration moves the FRT from accessory to product line. Rare Breed spent 2021 through 2025 litigating for the mechanism's existence; within a year of the settlement it has shipped platform-specific triggers for HK MR rifles and B&T PCCs, announced one for the CZ Scorpion, and now put its trigger on another manufacturer's production line. A major manufacturer assembling and warrantying FRT guns in-house is the strongest commercial endorsement the mechanism has received since the settlement.

For buyers the calculus is simple. SPC9 and GHM9 owners can buy the drop-in today, stock permitting, at $525. Buyers who do not own either host yet and want the FRT should wait for integrated-model pricing before paying for the gun and trigger separately; the factory guns are announced, assembled in the US, and tested as complete systems, but carry no price tag yet.
