Overview

The Xero L60i is the first laser rangefinder with onboard color topo mapping and turn-by-turn waypoint navigation. Garmin built it around backcountry western hunters: range an animal across a basin, drop a waypoint, navigate to it on the same screen while you stalk in. The 960x540 color display overlays distance, elevation, and map data directly into the optic, and Applied Ballistics Ultralight handles rifle and archery solutions. At $2,500 it costs more than a Vortex Razor HD 4000 GB and lands in rangefinding-binocular territory, but no binocular gives you onboard maps and Garmin Explore integration.

Key Features

  • 960 x 540 high-resolution color display with topo map overlay
  • Applied Ballistics Ultralight solver with rifle and archery profiles
  • Onboard GPS, compass, inclinometer, and environmental sensors
  • Drop waypoints and navigate to them while moving
  • Garmin Explore app pairing for trip planning and shared maps
  • IPX7 rated, 2x AAA lithium batteries, 1,400 ranges per set

Pros

  • +Only handheld with onboard GPS, topo maps, and waypoint navigation
  • +Class-leading reflective range (7,000 m) and animal range (2,775 m)
  • +AB Ultralight plus archery solver covers both rifle and bow
  • +Color overlay display is genuinely better than red-OLED segments in low light

Cons

  • $2,500 puts it above premium handhelds and against rangefinding binoculars
  • 13.6 oz is heavier than a Razor 4000 GB or KILO3K
  • AB Ultralight, not full AB Elite or GeoBallistics
  • Most of the value is wasted if you do not hunt backcountry or already use Garmin Explore
