Overview

The North American Rescue M-FAK (Mini First Aid Kit) builds on the IPOK foundation with two critical additions: hemostatic combat gauze and a nasopharyngeal airway. These additions address wound types and casualty conditions that the IPOK alone cannot manage, making the M-FAK the most complete individual trauma kit in NAR's lineup.

The inclusion of QuikClot Combat Gauze (or equivalent hemostatic agent) provides wound packing capability for deep, non-compressible bleeds where a tourniquet is either impractical (junctional areas like groin and axilla) or insufficient. The kaolin-impregnated gauze accelerates the body's natural clotting cascade, buying critical time during transport to definitive care. The 28Fr nasopharyngeal airway (NPA) with lubricant addresses airway compromise in unconscious casualties, maintaining breathing when the tongue or soft tissue would otherwise occlude the airway.

Combined with the CAT Gen 7 tourniquet, Hyfin Vent chest seal, and pressure dressing, the M-FAK provides intervention capability for extremity hemorrhage, junctional hemorrhage, penetrating chest trauma, and airway compromise. This covers the MARCH protocol (Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia) through the first three priorities. The kit comes in a tear-away pouch compatible with MOLLE platforms and belt mounting. As with all trauma equipment, training is essential. The M-FAK without training is just a bag of supplies.
