Plano
Polymer field box with rust-fighting VCI built into the plastic. Water-resistant O-ring seal, top-access lid storage, and Rustrictor technology that protects exposed metal inside the box.
The Plano 1612 Rustrictor Field Box earns its place by attacking the real enemy of stored ammunition: corrosion. Plano molds Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor compounds directly into the plastic, so the box continuously off-gasses a rust-fighting vapor that protects exposed metal inside without a separate desiccant pack. For ammunition that is the brass and primers; for mixed kits it also protects loose tools, parts, and magazines stored alongside.
The box backs that up with a water-resistant O-ring seal that keeps humidity and splashes out and top-access compartments built into the lid. The interior measures roughly 12.5 by 6 by 8.5 inches and holds six to eight boxes of ammo.
The Rustrictor protection is rated to last for years and works alongside, not instead of, good dry-storage discipline. The seal is water-resistant rather than submersible, so this is an indoor and sheltered-storage box. For shooters who store bare metal that would otherwise spot-rust, the built-in VCI makes the Rustrictor the most hands-off corrosion defense in this guide.
