SIG P365-AXG Equinox: Custom Works Comp Carry Pistol

SIG Sauer put the Custom Works Equinox treatment on the metal-frame P365-AXG. The pistol is part number 365AXG-9-COMP-EQ: a Nitron and Equinox polished slide, a two-port integrated expansion chamber, a SIG-LOC optic-ready cut, E-nickel controls, a black AXG grip with G10 panels, X-RAY3 sights, and three 12-round steel magazines. It is a 9mm striker-fired carry gun, not a new color on a polymer P365.

SIG's job for this SKU is simple. The Equinox slide and two-port chamber are the Custom Works half. The AXG alloy grip is the metal-frame half. Together they make a denser, 22.1-ounce (with magazine) P365 that still uses a 3.1-inch barrel and a 12-round flush magazine. If you wanted Equinox cosmetics on a gun you can actually carry, this is the pistol SIG built for that.

SIG has not published an MSRP. Dealer MAP sits at $1,199.99. That is a Custom Works price, not a polymer X-Macro Comp price. Transfer it through an FFL like any other conventional pistol.

The slide is the reason this SKU exists. SIG machines a two-port integrated expansion chamber into the Equinox-polished slide, ahead of a 3.1-inch carbon steel barrel. Gas vents through those ports to cut muzzle rise. The barrel stays at the P365 compact length; the chamber lives in the slide, not on a threaded muzzle device.

That is the same idea SIG used on compensated P365 slides such as the P365-FUSE COMP, with a different envelope. The Equinox keeps the 3.1-inch barrel and the 12-round AXG grip. The FUSE COMP uses a longer compensated slide, a 17-round grip, and a factory ROMEO-X. The Equinox is Custom Works metal in a compact P365. The FUSE COMP is the longer polymer gun that ships with the optic on the slide.

SIG says the two-port chamber helps reduce muzzle rise for a flatter shooting experience. The company has not published a percentage, a load, or a split-time test for this SKU. Treat the ports as a factory recoil feature, then confirm it with the ammo you actually carry. The compensated slide will be louder than a closed-end P365 of the same barrel length. That is the trade for venting gas at the muzzle.

Under the slide is a black AXG alloy grip with custom black G10 panels. AXG is SIG's metal P365 chassis: more mass in the hand than a polymer module, and a G10 surface instead of molded texture. At 22.1 oz with a magazine, the Equinox is heavier than a base P365. That extra weight is the point of buying metal. It is also the reason this gun will print more than a 17-ounce polymer micro-compact if you try to pocket it.

SIG finishes the flat trigger and the controls in E-nickel against the Nitron and Equinox slide. The trigger is striker-fired and flat. SIG has not published a pull weight for this SKU, so do not borrow a number from another P365. There is no manual safety lever on the pistol SIG photographed and listed. The dust cover carries a 1913 Picatinny rail for a compact light.

Capacity is 12+1 with three 12-round steel magazines in the box. That is the AXG compact grip, not the 17-round X-Macro module.
