FN SS195LF 5.7x28mm 27gr Lead-Free HP

FN SS195LF is the lead-free member of the civilian 5.7x28mm family. It pairs a 27gr jacketed hollow point over an aluminum core with a lead-free primer, which makes it the load for indoor ranges that prohibit lead and for shooters who want a non-toxic option. Critically, FN lists SS195LF as available for commercial, law enforcement, and military use, so it is a normal consumer purchase, unlike the green-tip SS198LF that FN restricts to LE and military.

The light 27gr bullet is the fastest lead-free 5.7 load at 1,890 fps for 222 ft-lbs from a Five-seveN, and 2,132 fps and 282 ft-lbs from a PS90. That velocity buys a nearly flat trajectory and the softest recoil in the caliber, at the cost of the lowest downrange momentum. The aluminum core is a lightweight, lead-free construction, not a hardened penetrator: SS195LF is not armor-piercing, and no civilian 5.7 load is.
