The lighter second-generation Rifle TACO: laser-cut nylon laminate over a woven thermoplastic core, contoured molded sides, and half-inch MOLLE that mounts to a placard or straight onto a belt.
The GEN 2 Rifle TACO is what happens when HSGI rebuilds its signature pouch around laminate instead of polymer brackets. Laser-cut nylon laminate wrapped over a woven thermoplastic core gives the pouch its shape, and the result runs about 20% lighter than the Original at the same $48 price.
Retention still comes from an integrated shock cord you tension yourself, so the pouch cinches down on an AR PMAG or opens up for a thicker AK or 7.62 magazine. Contoured molded sides replace the Original's squared brackets, which makes reindexing a magazine under load noticeably less fussy, and channels along those sides capture the shock cord tails instead of leaving them to snag.
The back is where the GEN 2 earns its keep on a mixed setup. Half-inch interval MOLLE takes an HSGI clip for a placard or plate carrier, or feeds a belt directly, so one pouch moves between a chest rig and a battle belt. Adding an HSG OTR cover converts it to a closed-top pouch. Made in the USA, Berry Amendment compliant, covered by HSGI's lifetime warranty, and built under patent 9,759,536.
