CCI
The standard large rifle primer, and what most published load data is developed with. Ten trays of 100 covers a long stretch of .308 and .30-06 loading at under six cents a round.
The CCI #200 is the baseline large rifle primer and the sensible default for anyone loading .308 Winchester, .30-06, or another large-rifle-pocket cartridge. CCI's published description is brief, calling its Standard Rifle primers clean burning and reliable, and the company does not publish cup thickness, cup hardness, or sensitivity figures for them. That absence is worth knowing, because the specific cup dimensions widely quoted in forums and retailer copy are not manufacturer specifications and should not be treated as such. What is true and useful is that standard primers are what the great majority of published load data is developed with, so starting here means your components match your data and any deviation you observe is yours rather than a substitution artifact. At a box of 1000 the cost works out under six cents per round, which makes the primer the cheapest component in a rifle handload by a wide margin. Match and bench rest primers exist above this tier for more uniform ignition, but they only repay the money once your brass prep, charge weighing, and shooting are consistent enough to see the difference.
