Ergo
Rubber-overmolded AR pistol grip with finger grooves, the original soft-grip ergonomic AR upgrade
The Ergo SureGrip was the original rubber-overmolded ergonomic AR pistol grip, predating the Magpul MOE and the entire current category of soft-feel AR grips. The body is reinforced polymer wrapped in a tacky rubber overmolding that fills the hand with finger grooves on the front strap and ambidextrous palm swells on both sides. ERGO's catalog lists the 4005 SureGrip at a 29.38-degree angle, so it feels more traditional and rearward than modern reduced-angle grips.
Finger grooves are the polarizing feature of this grip. For shooters whose hands match the spacing, the grooves are comfortable and promote consistent placement; for shooters whose hands don't fit, they force the hand into an awkward position. There is no way to know without trying one, but at the price point the experiment is cheap. The rubber overmolding is the consistent strength: tacky in wet conditions, comfortable for long shooting sessions, and forgiving on bare hands. Ambidextrous palm swells make this one of the few AR grips that genuinely fits both right- and left-handed shooters equally.
At current manufacturer sale pricing, the SureGrip is one of the cheapest soft-feel AR grip upgrades available. It fits AR-15/M16 and .223/.308 AR-pattern receivers with included installation hardware. The SureGrip family also includes flat-top variants and more aggressive textures for shooters who want different surfacing. For most shooters, the standard SureGrip is the version to start with.
