Maintenance Notes for a Suppressed Rattler LT
SIG's MCX manual is explicit in section 5.2 that running the rifle with a suppressor attached produces more residue than unsuppressed fire because of increased back pressure, so the bolt carrier group and operating system need more frequent cleaning attention. The suppressor-compatible handguard does not change that; it only gives the can room to live inside the shroud.
When you pull the handguard for cleaning access, follow manual section 5.2: scrape carbon from the bolt lugs, bolt carrier, op rod, cam pin, and gas valve, since carbon where propellant gas contacts operating parts must be scraped rather than brushed off. Do not use wire brushes on the aluminum upper, lower, or this handguard.
Per manual section 5.0, use only firearm-specific cleaning and lubrication products and avoid wire brushes on anodized aluminum surfaces, including the inside of this handguard, to keep the finish intact.
