Streamlight TL-Racker Forend Light (Remington 870)

The Streamlight TL-Racker (model 69601) is the cleanest defensive light upgrade available for the Remington 870. Where a Scout-pattern light requires a barrel clamp, mag-tube mount, or rail adapter plus a pressure switch and cable run, the TL-Racker replaces the factory forend entirely. The 1,000-lumen LED, ambidextrous switches, and CR123A battery compartment are all integrated into the forend itself, so there is no wire path to fail and no rail real estate consumed.

Output is 1,000 lumens with 20,000 candela of beam intensity, throwing a usable beam to roughly 283 meters. That overshoots any defensive shotgun engagement, but the candela headroom matters: at hallway distance the beam identifies threats cleanly without the bounce-back saturation that under-driven lights produce against interior walls. The reflector is biased flood-over-throw for indoor and yard work rather than rifle-distance identification.

Ambidextrous switches sit at the front of the forend where a closed support hand naturally contacts them during a normal pump-stroke grip. Both momentary and constant-on activation are present, with the constant-on toggle just inboard of the momentary pad. Battery life is 1.5 hours of continuous high output on two CR123A cells, which is far more than any defensive cycle requires. The lithium cells store for 10+ years, so a TL-Racker can sit on a defensive 870 for years without rotation.

The 69601 fits the Remington 870 (Express, Express Tactical, Police, Wingmaster) plus the 1100 and 11-87 with 2 3/4-inch or 3-inch chamber. It is NOT compatible with the 870 Super Mag (3.5-inch chamber). The forend swap takes about three minutes with a magazine cap wrench. For shooters who want a defensive light without the wires and rail clutter of a Scout-pattern setup, the TL-Racker is the first call.
