Overview

The Streamlight TL-Racker (model 69600 for Mossberg 500/590) is the simplest, cleanest way to put a defensive light on a Mossberg pump. Instead of bolting a Scout-pattern light to a Picatinny rail and running a pressure switch back to the forend, the TL-Racker replaces the factory pump entirely. The light, switches, and battery compartment are all integrated into the forend itself, so there is nothing to snag, no wires to fail, and no rail real estate consumed.

Output is 1,000 lumens with 20,000 candela of beam intensity, throwing a usable beam to roughly 280 meters. That is more than any defensive shotgun engagement will ever require, but it also means the light has the candela headroom to identify threats at hallway distances without overwhelming the user with bounce-back from interior walls. The beam pattern is balanced flood/throw, optimized for indoor and yard distances rather than long-range identification.

Activation uses ambidextrous switches at the front of the forend, ergonomically positioned so a closed support hand naturally falls on the switch during a normal pump-stroke grip. Both momentary and constant-on activation are available; the constant-on toggle is just inboard of the momentary pad. Battery life is 1.5 hours of continuous high output on two CR123A cells, which is more than enough for any defensive cycle. The lithium cells store for 10+ years, so a TL-Racker can sit on a defensive shotgun for years without battery rotation.

The Mossberg-fit version (69600) requires the factory 7 3/4-inch action slide. It is NOT compatible with the Mossberg 590 Shockwave, the 590S Tactical, or any 500/590 with a non-standard slide length. For shooters who want a defensive light without the wires and rail clutter of a Scout-pattern setup, the TL-Racker is the standard answer.
