Overview

The Phase 5 Extended Bolt Release V3 is the cleanest way to make an AR-15 bolt catch genuinely ambidextrous without swapping the lower receiver. Unlike a clamp-on lever that bolts onto the existing catch, the EBRv3 is a one-piece monolithic part that replaces the bolt catch outright and extends its own lever into the trigger well. That eliminates the play and potential loosening that comes from a two-piece add-on, and it gives a right-handed shooter a right-side paddle to lock and release the bolt with the trigger finger.

Because it is a single machined piece, the left-side catch keeps working normally, so left-handed shooters are covered too. Installation is a straight bolt-catch swap using the included 3/32 roll pin; there is no separate screw or back plate to come loose under recoil. This is the V3, the current generation, and the .308 large-frame version is a different part number.

Pick the EBRv3 over the Magpul B.A.D. Lever when you want the right-side function built into the catch itself rather than clamped on top of it. It costs more than a B.A.D. Lever, but the one-piece design is more robust and removes the most common complaint about add-on levers: that they shift or back out over time.
