PSA Sabre-15 Billet Ambi-Receiver Set

The PSA Sabre-15 Billet Ambi-Receiver Set is the older, billet-machined entry in the Sabre receiver line, and it is a different product from the forged Sabre-15 Enhanced set that shares most of its name. Both are matched upper-and-lower sets with a flared magwell and an integrated trigger guard, but this one is CNC machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum rather than forged, and PSA cuts the upper and lower to match lines across the pair. It sells for $269.99 in FDE, Smoke Bronze, and OD Green, with a separate Black SKU. The set weighs 15.03 oz as listed and carries PSA's full lifetime warranty.

What separates it from the rest of the Sabre receivers is the set-screw package. The upper tensioning set screw takes wobble out of the upper-to-lower fit, the bolt catch rides on a screw-in pin instead of a roll pin, a trigger reset set screw lets you tune reset travel, and the takedown spring hole is threaded so the detent spring stays captured during assembly. All the set screws ship with it. Every other interface is mil-spec, so standard trigger groups, safeties, grips, buffers, and charging handles drop in.

One buying distinction matters more than the machining. PSA's spec table lists the bolt catch as ambidextrous, but the answered question on PSA's own product page states the paddle is bolt release only, with no right-side hold-open, and buyer reviews on the page make the same point against the Mixtape-derived Enhanced set. Builders have also reported that the ambi bolt catch needs a longer plunger than the set ships with. If locking the bolt back from the firing hand is the reason you are shopping ambi, the forged Sabre-15 Enhanced set or the Sabre-15 Ambi stripped lower is the safer pick.

One fitment note from PSA: the Sabre Billet upper indexes handguards on the front of the upper, so rails with anti-rotation tabs designed to overlap the receiver, including PSA's own Sabre QDSM handguard, may not fit without modification.
