Dead Air KeyMo Flash Hider, SCAR 17 (DA305)

The FN SCAR's biggest muzzle-device headache is its barrel shoulder. The SCAR 17 uses a thin barrel with a small shoulder, and most muzzle brakes and flash hiders bottom out against the crown before the threads ever seat against that shoulder. The result is a device that times wrong, sits crooked, or refuses to torque. The Dead Air SCAR flash hider is cut specifically to index off the muzzle crown instead of the shoulder, which is what makes it sit correctly on a SCAR without a shim kit or an aftermarket shoulder ring.

The DA305 is the 5/8x24, .30-bore version for the 7.62 SCAR 17. It doubles as a mounting interface for Dead Air's KeyMo quick-detach suppressors, including the Sandman-L, Sandman-S, Sandman-K, and the KeyMo-equipped Nomad-30, so a SCAR 17 owner running a compatible Dead Air can gets a flash hider and a suppressor mount in one part. The 5.56 SCAR 16 uses the 1/2-28, .22-bore DA306 instead; the two are not interchangeable. Street price runs around $85 to $94 depending on retailer.
