Ammo Can Man
The compact steel can. Same waterproof gasketed seal as the M2A1 in a smaller, lighter footprint that keeps a full can light enough to carry one-handed.
The M19A1 is the .30 caliber sibling to the M2A1, and for most shooters it is the more practical can. It uses the same seam-welded carbon steel construction and the same integral rubber lid gasket, so the waterproof seal is identical, but the smaller footprint keeps a fully loaded can light enough to carry comfortably in one hand. That makes it the default choice for range cans, truck cans, and organizing ammunition by caliber where a .50 cal can would be awkwardly heavy when full.
The interior measures roughly 10 by 3.5 by 6.75 inches, which holds about 400 loose 5.56 rounds or 200 loose 7.62x51. Because the can fills out at a manageable weight, you can dedicate one can per caliber and label the lid rather than burying mixed ammo in a single heavy box.
As with any surplus can, buy Grade 1 for a serviceable factory seal. Inspect the gasket on arrival, and if it has hardened or gone missing, a replacement seal is a few dollars and restores the waterproof close. Drop in a silica gel desiccant canister and the M19A1 becomes a compact, sealed, humidity-controlled home for a single caliber.
Add the M19A1 .30 Cal Steel Ammo Can (Mil-Surplus, Grade 1) to your build and see how it enhances your platform.
