Butler Creek
Budget alternative to the UpLULA for double-stack 9mm-.45 ACP pistol mags. Lower price, slightly bulkier ergonomics.
The Butler Creek ASAP is the long-running budget competitor to the Maglula UpLULA. It targets the same universal-double-stack mission - 9mm through .45 ACP, most modern duty and carry pistol mags - at a notably lower price point. The mechanism uses a lever-arm to depress the follower and a guide channel for the round.
Ergonomically, the ASAP is bulkier than the UpLULA and the lever throw is longer. Loading a 17-round Glock 17 mag takes roughly the same time as a UpLULA, but the tool requires a firmer two-handed grip. For shooters who already use a UpLULA in their primary range bag, the ASAP earns its place as a backup, a spare for a second range bag, or a loaner for new shooters. For a first-time mag-loader purchase, the UpLULA is the better tool.
Note that the ASAP is double-stack only. Butler Creek sells a separate single-stack ASAP (BCA1XSML) for narrower mags such as 1911 single-stack, S&W Shield, and similar.
Add the Butler Creek ASAP Universal Double-Stack Mag Loader to your build and see how it enhances your platform.
